Mechanical beam clamps are a practical way to hang pipe, cable tray, ductwork and threaded-rod assemblies from steel I-beams and channel flanges — without welding, drilling or hot work permits. At Y.F METAL we have produced beam clamps for domestic MEP and industrial projects for many years; several models are now listed with full English specifications for export buyers.
When to use a beam clamp instead of a welded hanger
Beam clamps grip the bottom flange of structural steel and accept a threaded rod or hanger attachment from below. They are reusable, repositionable and suited to retrofit work in existing buildings. Typical applications include:
- Process piping and HVAC duct supports on overhead steel
- Cable tray and conduit runs in commercial and industrial buildings
- Temporary or adjustable supports during equipment installation
Load rating must match the service: a 3/8" malleable iron beam clamp (WLL 400 lbs) covers many light-to-medium MEP runs, while heavier services may need a heavy-duty pressed steel clamp or a wider-jaw design for thicker flanges.
Malleable iron vs pressed steel
Malleable cast iron clamps — including our 1/4", 5/16" and 3/8" sizes — use a set screw and lock nut against the flange. They are electro-galvanized and widely used for standard MEP suspension.
Pressed steel clamps — such as our standard and conduit-clamp assembly models — use stamped jaws with serrated grip. They suit lighter loads or integrated conduit hanger layouts.
What to specify when ordering
For a quote, share flange thickness range, required WLL, rod size (e.g. 3/8-16 all-thread), finish (electro-galvanized or other) and quantity. We support OEM marking, packaging and mixed-container shipments from our Handan workshop.
